Why the share preview matters

Meta tags are small bits of text in your page code that describe the page. Open Graph tags are the ones that set how your link looks when someone shares it: the title, the short summary, and the big preview image. When those tags are missing, your link shows up as a plain grey box with no picture, and people scroll right past it. This tool reads the tags on any page, shows you the share preview for X, LinkedIn, and Slack, and points out what is missing so you can fix it before you post.

Frequently asked questions

What are meta tags?

They are short bits of text in the page code that describe the page. Search engines and social apps read them to show a title, a summary, and an image when your link comes up.

What is Open Graph?

Open Graph is the set of tags that decides how your link looks when someone shares it. It sets the title, the description, and the big preview image you see on social apps.

Why does my share preview look wrong?

Usually the og:image, og:title, or og:description tag is missing or empty. Add those tags to your page and the preview will fill in. This tool shows you which ones are missing.
